A forklift engine oil filter (usually a "spin-on" type) removes contaminants (metal, soot, dust) from the lubricating oil, protecting the engine from seizure. Replacement is typically recommended every 500 operating hours, or more frequently in severe conditions. These filters have a relief valve that ensures lubrication even when clogged.
